The person

A few words

[Replace with two or three sentences about yourself — where you come from, how you came to painting, something true and brief. This is the personal anchor the page needs. It doesn't have to be long.]

Practice

On portraits and the people inside them

The work begins with a question rather than a face. Who is this person — and what does it mean for them to exist inside a painting? Some of the figures Izadora paints are real; others are invented. The distinction, she has found, matters less than expected.

Portraiture, for me, is a form of exploration. Not an attempt to capture someone — but to follow them, to ask where they go, where their edges are, whether edges exist at all.

Working in acrylic allows for that kind of layered thinking. Each layer conceals and reveals at the same time — a record of decisions made and unmade. The final surface is only the most recent answer to a question that stays open.

Identity and character are the recurring preoccupations: how a person becomes legible, how a painted figure carries narrative weight, how abstraction and likeness can coexist — or whether the distinction between them was ever meaningful to begin with.

Research

On process as subject

Alongside the studio practice, Izadora works as an art researcher with a focus on creative process — how artists think through making, how the act of creating becomes itself a form of knowledge production. Published work in this area explores the intersection of comics, visual narrative, and the documentation of artistic practice.

The Journal section of this site is an extension of that research: process notes, works in progress, and comics that think through making by doing it. It is a space where the studio and the archive meet.
